Terra-Cotta Time

02/15/2012 |

Here at Outdoor Signature, we love to encourage our customers to make use of containers for planting.  Useful to add interest and structural décor, containers are available in a wide range of sizes and colors.  Obviously, there are many different styles from classic to modern, available in a huge array of hues when you are using glazed pottery.  If, however, you prefer the more old-fashioned look of simple terra-cotta, we have a few suggestions.

Some Basic Shape Styles include:

  • Footed Urns
  • Cylinders
  • Banded Pots
  • Rectangular Plants
  • Legged Bowls
  • Jars
  • Wall-sconces

Be prepared to spend a little bit more, but always opt for Italian or Spanish terra-cotta rather than Mexican pottery if you intend the pots to remain outdoors year round.  Italian pottery is known for its resistance to frost and longevity.  In the long run, it is well worth the added expense upfront to avoid spilling and crumbling and the inevitable replacement of sub-par pottery.  Our professionals here at Outdoor Signature have sources for some of the best containers available and will be happy to share these resources with you!  Also, our professionals are skilled in designing irrigation systems to water your pots from the bottom and ensure that your investment in plants will not dry up and blow away!
